Aslı Özdemir works across drawing, painting and wearable pieces in metal. Drawing inspiration from unintentional aesthetics, her work forms a shifting inner map, gathering traces of removed objects, worn surfaces, improvised fixtures, inside jokes and other leftovers of everyday life.
Shaped by over a decade of living between Turkey and UK, her practice has come to reflect the unsetteled nature of diasporic experience, a sense of flux, displacement and belonging.
Özdemir studied musical composition at Istanbul Technical University Conservatory and Fine Arts at Academy of Fine Artis Vienna. She lives and works in London.
